If a shipment is valued at under 200 EUROS then it may be cleared duty free with a petition letter to Customs. Individuals may receive up to one international parcel per month without paying duties or taxes. But it must be of a reasonable amount of goods intended for private use. All international shipments arrive at Almaty. If the parcel is bound for another destination in Kazachstan it will be forwarded in a transit procedure after the cosignee submits the appropriate paperwork. The cosignee will then pay the taxes and duties before the package is cleared by customs. There may also be a transit fee.

It is prohibited to import hazardous material into Kazachstan. This may include: acids, batteries, biological products, chemicals, corrosives, cosmetics, dangerous goods, flammables, gases, ice, infectious substances, liquids, magnets, oxidizers, paints, perfume, poisons, radioactive material, or toiletries.

When shipping parcels to Kazachstan include a declaration of all of the contents to avoid paying extra taxes and duties. Products should be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin if they originate in Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine, or Uzbekistan. Products that are subject to Sanitary-Epidemiological Control, such as food and toletries require a Government Registration Certificate. Additionally products that are subject to saftey inspections must be accompanied by an attested invoice.
